THE AKHA // Xishuangbanna, China // 2016
The Akha are an indigenous hill tribe who live among the mountains of south-west China. Here a local Akha woman shops for her weekly goods at a weekend market in the mountains of Xishuangbanna, .
"This is one of the more colourful markets I have had the pleasure of shooting. Whilst I usually feel right at home shooting in markets, I felt my presence was all too known at this very local hill-tribe market. I found myself snapping sneaky photos while people were distracted or whilst backs were turned. The tribal dress provided a unique canvas to play with." - Leigh
